Pet Desexing
Pet Desexing
at Valley Vets Latrobe
Desexing has many health and behavioural benefits for cats, dogs, rabbits and also ferrets. We offer safe, professional procedures and guide you on the best timing for your pet.
Desexing is a routine procedure that offers a range of health and behavioural benefits for both cats and dogs. It helps prevent unwanted litters (no surprise puppies or kittens to find homes for) and can reduce the risk of certain cancers and infections later in life. It can also help with behaviours like roaming, marking, and aggression — which means a happier pet and, let’s be honest, an easier life for you too.
We understand that every pet is different, so we take the time to talk through the right timing for desexing based on your pet’s age, breed, and lifestyle. If you’re not sure when to book it in, we’re always happy to have a chat and point you in the right direction.
Desexing procedures are performed with your pet’s safety and comfort as our top priority. We use modern anaesthesia, careful monitoring, intravenous fluids, and appropriate pain relief to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. Most pets recover quickly and are back to their usual selves before you know it (maybe just a little less interested in causing chaos).
At the moment, we offer desexing procedures with the same level of care and attention you’d expect from a clinic. Once our Morwell clinic opens, these procedures will be performed in our fully equipped surgical space, allowing us to provide even more comprehensive care in-house.
If you’ve been thinking about desexing your pet but haven’t quite gotten around to it, consider this your sign. It’s a simple step that can have long-term benefits for your pet’s health and wellbeing.
