Valley Vets Latrobe is a locally owned veterinary team built on experience, compassion, and a genuine love for the animals of the Latrobe Valley. Husband-and-wife vets Dr Duncan Borland and Dr Glenene Borland have each spent around the last 10 years working in and around the region, caring for local pets and getting to know the people behind them. With more than 30 years of combined veterinary experience, they bring a wealth of knowledge, a practical approach, and a good dose of down-to-earth Valley personality to every visit.
They understand that pets are family, whether they’re the energetic kind who never sit still, the nervous ones who need a gentle touch, or the slightly chonky couch supervisors who’ve perfected the art of doing absolutely nothing. Every pet is different, and Valley Vets Latrobe tailors their care to suit your pet’s personality, lifestyle, and health needs.
Being part of the Latrobe Valley community is something Duncan and Glenene are proud of. They’ve spent years working with local families and caring for generations of pets, and they love the friendly, laid-back nature of the region. Dr Duncan Borland

Veterinarian
Duncan graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2009 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. He also attained a Bachelor of Animal Science for his work studying parasitology in Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
Duncan started his vet career in a small animal practice in and around the Barossa Valley in South Australia, playing for the local football team the Willaston Donnybrooks.
Duncan has spent the last dozen years working in small animal practices in the Latrobe Valley, Warragul and brief periods in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Duncan developed his skills and experience in surgery over time including spending time at the Veterinary Referral Hospital learning from the specialist surgeons. After a long period of intensive study and examinations, in 2018 Duncan was admitted as a Member of the Surgery Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. One of his most interesting procedures to date was successfully creating a new bottom for a little puppy who was born without one.
Duncan loves connecting with people and their pets and helping to make their lives better in the long term. He also wants to help the native wildlife and make their world flourish.
Whilst some say that Duncan’s first love is AFL football and his beloved Geelong Cats, thankfully they come a distant second to his family.
Duncan is married to Glenene and they have three young daughters, a miniature Cavoodle called Indi, a Toy Poodle called Amber (who insists she is a real dog) and a Princess Parrot named Nikki.
Dr Glenene Borland
Veterinarian
Glenene graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2006. She then worked in small animal practice in Geelong, Melbourne and Adelaide before spending the past dozen years working in the Latrobe Valley.
Glenene loves being able to make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. She has an interest in rabbits and other pocket pets; and emergency medicine.
Glenene is married to Duncan and they have three young daughters, a miniature cavoodle named Indi, a toy poodle named Amber and a princess parrot called Nikki.
