Pet Vaccinations
at Valley Vets Latrobe
Vaccinations are one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your pet from serious (and sometimes life-threatening) diseases. They help your pet’s immune system recognise and fight off infections before they have a chance to take hold — a simple step that can make a big difference to their long-term health.
One disease we take very seriously here in the Valley is parvovirus. It’s a highly contagious virus that mainly affects young dogs and attacks the gastrointestinal system, causing vomiting, severe diarrhoea (often bloody), and dehydration. It also weakens the immune system, making it harder for dogs to fight off infection. Parvovirus can survive in the environment for months, which means even a quick trip outside can pose a risk for unvaccinated pups.
Treatment for parvovirus involves intensive supportive care, often with hospitalisation and IV fluids, and even with early intervention, it can still be life-threatening. That’s why prevention is so important. Keeping your dog’s vaccinations up to date is the best way to protect them, along with taking extra care with young puppies until they’ve built up their immunity.
We offer vaccinations in the comfort of your home, making it easier for pets who aren’t fans of the car or clinic visits. You’ll also be able to book in at our Morwell clinic once it opens, giving you flexible options that suit you and your pet.
A quick visit now can save a whole lot of stress later – and help keep your pet safe, healthy, and ready for whatever mischief they get up to next.
