Birds & Pocket Pets
Birds & Pocket Pet Vet Care
at Valley Vets Latrobe
We care for more than just cats and dogs. Birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets are all welcome.
We don’t just care for cats and dogs, we’re big fans of the smaller (and sometimes a little quirkier) members of the family too. From fluffy guinea pigs to curious birds and scaly companions, we understand that pocket pets and exotics have their own unique needs when it comes to health, handling, and care.
These pets are often very good at hiding when something’s not quite right, so regular check-ups and early intervention can make a big difference. Whether it’s a routine health check or something a bit more concerning, we’re here to help keep your smaller mates happy and healthy.
Guinea Pigs
Guinea pigs are gentle little characters who need the right balance of diet, dental care, and general health monitoring to thrive. We commonly see issues with teeth, skin, and nutrition, so regular checks can help keep them in top shape (and happily wheeking away).
Rabbits
We offer health checks, dental assessments, desexing, vaccinations, dentals, and general advice to keep your bunny bouncing along comfortably. We also provide Calicivirus vaccinations using the new Filavac vaccine, as well as rabbit dental procedures including burring molar spurs and trimming overgrown incisors under general anaesthesia.
Birds
Birds can be delicate and are experts at hiding illness, so it’s important to keep a close eye on their health. We provide check-ups and care for a range of common bird species, helping pick up subtle signs before they become bigger concerns.
Ferrets
Ferrets are playful, curious, and full of personality (and mischief). We offer routine health care, vaccinations, ferret desexing, and advice to help keep them healthy, active, and out of too much trouble.
Lizards
Reptiles like lizards have very specific environmental and dietary needs. We can help with health checks, husbandry advice, and identifying issues early to make sure your scaly mate is thriving.
